American comics: Praising the sun, starting from Gotham!
Chapter 154 Tickets and Gods
After being violently cleansed by the Golden Crow Divine Fire, only ten minutes later, black spots began to sprout again on the edges of Gotham's sky, just like moldy bread. This caused Xiu En to instantly plummet from a state of "refreshment" to a state of "wanting to blow up the earth to disinfect it."
Suspended two thousand meters above the clouds, Xiu En stared at the swollen city below, which seemed to be constantly vomiting curses and resentment.
"This is just never going to end! The water changed color again right after I changed it!"
The flames around him flickered erratically, a sign that he truly harbored murderous intent to "scrape the ground clean." Rather than coming here every morning to be a human cleaner, he'd rather physically eliminate the source of the pollution.
A not-so-good miniature supernova has begun to condense in the palm of his hand.
"I don't recommend burning Gotham to the ground, foundation and all, into glass, Shuen. The cost of rebuilding it would exceed our lifetime budget."
Bruce's communication came through.
"Gotham's underground is a complex mess, a saga of centuries-old mystical history. And—to be honest, in this area you're a brute who has nuclear weapons but can't even use a match."
Xiu En snorted coldly. Although he didn't speak, the fireball in his hand did indeed shrink. He needed a solution, and he needed it quickly.
"Go to Washington, Shum. Diana's location is at the Smithsonian Museum."
Bruce's voice carried that typical sense of nonchalance, as if he were "passing the buck to someone more suitable."
"She's a true expert on ancient divine remnants, curse purification, and how to deal with divine trash that doesn't want to be cleaned. And the sky there is usually much bluer than this."
Blue sky. Experts. Thousands of years.
These three words instantly struck a nerve with Xiu En. Especially the part about "it being cleaner there."
"Whether it's dealing with this black thing or how to handle a god with so much energy like you, I believe she has far more constructive solutions than I do or you do."
"That sounds good. If it's true, I'd be willing to wait in line with her."
Xiu En didn't hesitate for long. For a god who considers "living" as the highest principle, leaving the trouble to the experts is obviously the most philosophical choice.
He made no so-called "preparation" movements, but simply shouted at the dense private jungle below—or that large field of mutated flowers that were excitedly gazing at the sun.
"Let's go, Ivy!"
The sound echoed throughout the entire manor.
The next second, a verdant figure rushed out from the sea of flowers and was caught in mid-air by the golden light, hanging on its shoulder.
Xiu En, along with the green pendant on his shoulder, transformed into a shooting star that was still blindingly bright even in daylight, amidst a sonic boom that shattered the morning's tranquility.
The golden tail flames, like a long sword cleaving the sky, carved a pure aerial corridor leading southeast through the lifeless clouds of Gotham.
Bruce watched the rapidly receding point of light on the horizon, put down his coffee cup, and took off his sunglasses.
The clouds over the National Mall in Washington, D.C., rolled rapidly to both sides.
A golden vertical beam of light landed smoothly and gently on the steps of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.
When Xiu En landed, the puddle of rainwater that had accumulated the night before instantly turned into a cloud of white steam, without leaving a single scorch mark.
The surrounding tourists all raised their phones. In the special economic zone, superhumans are nothing new. (Don't miss the full story: Chapter 154 Tickets and God, click here.) Especially since this superhuman doesn't seem like a villain who's going to blow up the White House.
"The air is nice, without that purple, muddy smell, but the gasoline smell is a bit strong."
The light dimmed.
Xiu En straightened his collar and casually smoothed out the sunflower leaf on his shoulder that had been blown into a punk hairstyle by the airflow.
"Stop shaking, that's a security gate, not a lawnmower. We're here for a medical checkup, not for demolition. Be polite. Bruce said the older women here have a bit of a temper."
Xiu En walked toward the ticket window.
The ticket seller behind the glass counter was a young woman wearing thick-rimmed glasses. At that moment, she was staring wide-eyed, even forgetting to put down her coffee.
Xiu En rummaged through a pile of junk in his pocket for a while and pulled out a black card with two fingers.
"Two tickets. I'm an adult, so, umm, does this count as a potted plant or a pet?"
He pointed to his shoulder.
Sunflower Ivy angrily smacked his ear with a leaf.
The ticket seller took the card, and the machine swiped it with a beep.
"Plants are free, sir. Also, we need to go through security."
As expected, trouble struck; Shuen got stuck in front of the metal detector door.
The moment Xiu En stepped into the frame, the poor instrument exploded.
The internal coil of the machine was subjected to an excessively strong magnetic field, and it melted completely with a crisp snap, followed by a plume of black smoke that conveyed a sense of despair.
Several security guards with Tasers at their waists immediately surrounded him. Although their hands were trembling, they stood in front of Xiu En because it was their duty.
"Sir/Madam! Please show me any metal objects in your pockets!"
Xiu En sighed, a helpless expression on his face saying, "I knew this would happen." He started taking things out.
"First of all, let me clarify that this is for eating."
A half-eaten depleted uranium armor-piercing projectile core from a heavy tank.
"This is a souvenir."
A gold coin engraved with an owl design.
"This is a fragment of an alien spaceship."
Finally, there was an alloy plate that was still slightly warm.
The security guards' expressions went from tense to completely blank, and the leader was already considering whether to call the National Guard directly.
"If I were you, I wouldn't try to inspect someone who eats spaceship debris like snacks."
A steady female voice came from beneath the dome deep inside the hall.
The crowd of onlookers automatically parted to make way.
Diana Prince was dressed in a simple, dark blue business suit, and instead of a shield or sword, she carried a pair of white gloves and a tray containing artifacts.
She stood on the marble steps, her azure eyes, which seemed to see through thousands of years of history, did not waver in the face of Xiu En. Instead, they quietly locked onto the ancient divine power emanating from him that he could not suppress at all.
"Put away your sun, Shuen. There are many things here that are much older and more fragile than you."
She put down the tray she was holding.
Xiu En stopped pulling a piece of steel bar from his pocket, tilted his head, and his face, framed by a bright sunlight filter, flashed with an extremely radiant smile.
"That's right. Professionalism. It's good to see you again, Diana."
