Marvel: Wonka's Chocolate Factory

Chapter 36 When the Rich Woman Knocks on the Door

George Stacy's family situation is simple. He has a lively and lovely daughter, and the two of them live together in a small villa in Queens, New York.

George's wife, Helen, died of illness when Gwen was young. Instead of remarrying, he chose to live alone with his daughter.

George has been troubled lately, but as a father, he finds it difficult to talk to Gwen about it.

That is, Cupid shot himself with an arrow, but Gwen is still in Midtown High School, and George doesn't know how his daughter will feel about this relationship.

This meant that his relationship with Isabella had lasted for more than three months, but he still hadn't figured out how to tell Gwen.

Stacy's family was having breakfast when George's cell phone, which was on the table, suddenly vibrated twice.

Isabella sent him a message early this morning; she usually doesn't get up until almost noon.

"George, I have some good news for you today. You can guess what it is. Love, Isabella."

George knew he was in trouble, because if Isabella Jones chose to text instead of call, it meant she was already nearby. Maybe even at his doorstep!

George's intuition was correct; the doorbell rang right after he finished reading the message.

"Dad, I'll go open the door."

Gwen finished the last sip of milk in her glass, then went to open the door with half a sandwich in her hand.

It was the sound of the door opening, and also the sound of George's heart dying.

Gwen looked at the stylishly dressed older woman in front of her with curiosity, not quite understanding why such a person would come to her door so early in the morning.

She had assumed it would be Uncle Corey, the neighbor who liked the same sports team as her father.

"Hello, you're Gwen, right? I'm your dad's good friend, my name is Isabella, Isabella Jones."

"Hello, Isabella, I'm Gwen. Are you Dad's friend?"

Isabella was wearing a beige trench coat, carrying a Hermès bag, and the sunglasses she was playing with looked expensive.

From any angle, she doesn't seem like the kind of friend her father would make—age, gender, occupation. It's impossible that this pretty older sister also likes baseball and is a big fan of the New York Yankees like her father, right?

"Gwen, won't you invite me in?"

Gwen's cheeks flushed slightly. She was so preoccupied with other thoughts that she didn't immediately invite Isabella inside.

George got up and went to the kitchen to prepare a simple breakfast for Isabella as well, just like the father and daughter: a glass of hot milk and a sandwich.

"George, another hot cocoa, please."

Isabella casually placed her bag on the table, tidied her hair, and then picked up a sandwich and began to chew it heartily.

"This sandwich tastes good. I didn't have breakfast today, so I feel like I could eat the whole thing."

George returned to his seat with his hot cocoa, noticing Isabella's subtle gaze.

The time had come to a head. George originally wanted to delay and announce their relationship after Gwen had decided on her university.

Now that Isabella has come to visit, he's not some spineless man.

Gwen had already realized that the older girl's relationship with her father was unusual. Girls of this age are usually thoughtful and observant, and Gwen was no exception.

Gwen already had some guesses in her mind, so instead of rushing to school, she sat back down at the dining table.

"Perhaps I should give a more formal introduction."

"Isabella, this is my precious daughter, Gwen Stacy, who is currently in 12th grade at Midtown High School."

"Gwen, this is Isabella Jones, she is..."

George paused for a moment, hesitated for two or three seconds, and then finished speaking.

"She's my girlfriend, and soon she'll be my wife. Gwen, I'm sorry I'm only telling you now, but this is a crucial time for your studies, and I was planning to tell you after you graduate high school."

George wanted to continue apologizing, but Gwen interrupted him.

"Dad, this is wonderful. I'm so happy that you've chosen to remarry. You've worked so hard all these years."

George was taken aback. "You don't object?"

"Dad, why should I object to you pursuing your own happiness? Did you stop loving me after you married Isabella?"

George took a deep breath and then hugged Gwen tightly.

Isabella secretly breathed a sigh of relief. She truly loved George Stacy, and she didn't want to miss out on this relationship if given the chance.

Isabella knew about George's family situation and understood his worries. Therefore, she was willing to wait.

But the situation changed, and she had to speed things up, using this almost coercive approach to get George to make a decision.

Isabella Jones's brother, Robert Jones, contacted her this morning.

As the younger sister of the current president of the Totto Land Corporation, Isabella is one of only three members of the Jones family to possess Armament Haki. Isabella has always valued her family, especially Robert, who has treated her very well.

After learning about her relationship with George, her brother did not use the real differences between them as a reason to stop them; instead, he was supportive.

New York Police Department Captain George and the eldest daughter of the Jones family are not a good match in terms of social status or wealth.

So Robert spent an entire night talking to Frank about it, and then Frank contacted Pierce to try to get George Stacy promoted to the position of Commissioner of the New York Police Department.

Isabella understood that Robert had definitely used his own resources to make a deal with Uncle Frank.

Therefore, when her family needs her to make a contribution, Isabella will not hesitate at all.

Mr. Willy Wonka and Uncle Frank conducted an experiment that required a powerful figure to test the results. Neither she nor Robert knew how dangerous the experiment was, but for the Joneses' sake, Isabella decided to take the risk.

Only in this way can the Jones family solidify their position in front of Mr. Willy Wonka.

At this time, the Jones family had the fewest members with the power to dominate among all the families. If they could not prove that their family could step up in critical moments, they might not be able to keep their position after a few decades when their family line was exhausted.

However, Isabella should still savor this moment of tenderness, because George's daughter has accepted her relationship with George.

After George and Gwen had fully expressed their father-daughter bond, Isabella smiled and said:

"Come with me after dinner and see the gift I prepared. George, Gwen, I think you'll love it."
