Cyberpunk: I didn't cheat.

Chapter 20 save yourself

It's a long-standing habit of Night City gangs that when you raid a bar, the thing or person you're looking for is most likely hidden in the manager's office.

Jack and Vito burst through the door, and the manager of Fuji Bar, who was being interrogated in the manager's office, immediately knelt down.

"Don't shoot! I didn't hurt her! I didn't hurt her!"

Jack stepped forward to check on the target's situation, while Vito stepped forward and kicked the person in charge to the ground, saying...

"That's not up to you. What's Anne Cornwall's situation? You'd better not try to hide anything!"

The person in charge fell to the ground, covering his face with his hands.

"She's fine, she was just blocked from receiving signals. I haven't had a chance to ask her anything yet."

Vito restrained the person in charge and asked Jack.

"Jack, what's going on?"

Jack released Annie and replied.

"The target isn't dead, and doesn't seem to be in any serious condition. I've released the target."

Anne Cornwall loosened her aching hands and feet, secretly relieved that she had been lucky. In another hour, she would be transferred to the Tiger Claw Gang's stronghold, where she would likely be subjected to severe torture.

Anne looked around and asked.

"Just the two of you?"

Vito pursed his lips.

"Of course not, your Royal Guard is on its way from London, Your Highness."

Anne was speechless for a moment, then said something dryly.

"Kill him!"

Vito smiled.

"As you wish."

"No! Don't!"

boom!

The bullet pierced the person in charge's palm and then went straight through his head.

Annie pulled out the inserted shielding chip and then made a phone call.

beep~ beep~

The call was answered quickly.

"Hey, Valerie, I messed up, it's a trap."

Jack looked at Anne, while Vito connected to the computer in the manager's office of Fuji Bar, preparing to hack their Euro accounts.

"The scene has been cleared. I heard gunshots, so there shouldn't be any survivors."

"But! Uh, I understand, I'll go back right away."

After chatting for a few minutes, Annie hung up the phone and asked the two of them.

"Who's in charge here?"

Vito answered casually while hacking the account.

"I am Vito, the head and executive director of the Vito Medical Dispute Mediation Group. Is there anything else?"

Annie's lips twitched.

"You did a good job. My boss wants your contact information, and you'll get a decent amount of extra pay."

Vito's lips curled into a smile after hacking the account.

"Looks like I'm on a lucky streak today. I should have taken on more orders."

Vito handed over his business card, which Anne gently picked up between her index and middle fingers.

drop~

Vito's address book has two more contacts: one is Anne Cornwall, and the other is V.

Vito's eyebrows twitched as he looked at the familiar contact. It seemed this order was from the company's V team. He had just heard Anne mention Valerie, so it must be a female V.

"I don't usually take jobs from Arasaka, but rescuing the beautiful princess is an exception. It was a pleasure working with you. I'm off, Jack. I'm going to check out the car tonight."

Anne's first thought was that the middleman had leaked the information, but upon closer reflection, she realized that her boss wouldn't hire such an unreliable middleman, so she couldn't help but ask a question.

How did you know?

Vito opened the door and walked out of the manager's office; his voice drifted into Annie's ears.

"Your impeccable bows to Saburo Arasaka have wrinkled your clothes!"

Annie glanced down instinctively, then immediately realized she'd been tricked.

"asshole!"

……

As they left the Fuji Bar, Valerie's transfer arrived—a full three thousand euros. Vito couldn't help but whistle.

The two sat down in Delaman, and Jack asked.

"Will this tactic really work? Do you think you can fool these corporate dogs with that kind of talk?"

Vito opened a small can of Coca-Cola.

"This way we'll look more professional. Otherwise, if you yell, 'Vito, Vito, there were three in front of me, I took them down!' even if we kill them cleanly and efficiently, people will still think we're just some lowlifes from some gang."

Jack scratched his head.

"But we didn't have any audience members just now. That girl was tied up in the manager's office, so she probably didn't hear anything."

"Damn! I forgot about that! Oh well, what's the next order for?"

"In the Kabuki district, the target is a pervert who tricked several prostitutes into coming to his house to torture and kill them. A pimp who came to investigate had his leg broken."

Vito paused for a moment, then asked.

"Didn't you call the police?"

Jack said helplessly.

"That guy has some connections. After the NCPD came to investigate, they warned the person who made the false report that if he made another false report, they would arrest him."

Vito checked the bullets and asked.

"What should we say to the client?"

"The client said he wanted to beat that kid to a pulp, but I say we should tie him up and take him to the victim's family so he can experience what it's like to be tortured to death!"

Vito shook his head.

"Forget it, since that kid has such a powerful background, let's not bother. It's fine if he comes after us, but how many of his family members can withstand his guns?"

Jack sighed.

"That's true, the world is really like this, sigh!"

Vito patted Jack on the shoulder.

"Relax, Mano. It's rare to find a job where you can make money and play the hero at the same time. Old De, what's the most important thing for a mercenary?"

Dellaman's mechanical voice rang out.

"Based on analysis and synthesis..."

"Get to the point, old man."

"Yes, Mr. Vito, I think the most important thing for a mercenary is making the right choices."

……

The two arrived at an apartment in the Kabuki district.

Like many budget apartments, this place has idle people, cheap fast food restaurants, an open-air boxing ring, and a broken elevator that works sometimes but not always. Some men and women dressed in flamboyant clothes smoke and look at the people walking by looking for target customers, while vendors in trench coats display pirated Mewtwos under their clothes in a corner.

Jack repeatedly compared the mission locations.

"That's not wrong, is it? This kid lives here? It doesn't look like the place where some rich kid with connections lives."

"The men on Lijing Mountain are all perverted, so let's not dwell on our perverted thoughts and just do our jobs."

The two arrived at the door of room 1217. Vito touched the iron door to feel its material, and then planted a miniature breaching bomb.

Boom boom boom!

Is Mr. Yoo Young-chul home?

The door didn't open, and a muffled sound came from inside.

"Who?"

"NCPD, we have received a report and, in accordance with the Constitution, we are now executing you justly!"

boom!

A breaching bomb exploded, leaving the room door wide open.

Jack dodged and fired two shots into the room with his hand, scattering 320 bullets evenly and sending debris flying throughout the room.

Vito rushed into the room, while Jack quickly loaded two slugs into his gun.

Good news: the two hadn't chosen the wrong target; the person in the room was indeed the psychopathic killer, Yoo Young-chul.

Bad news: this kid does have some connections.

Beneath Yoo Young-cheol's damaged skin was a jet-black subcutaneous armor. Vito fired continuously at Yoo Young-cheol with Shigure, while Yoo Young-cheol crossed his hands to protect his head.

Ping ping ping ping!

The crisp sound demonstrated the quality of Yoo Young-chul's prosthetic body. After emptying a magazine, Yoo Young-chul slowly lowered his hands and said.

"Damn it, now it's my turn!"

bass!

Two mantis knives popped out from Liu Yongzhe's arm.
