Cyberpunk: I didn't cheat.

Chapter 19 Ascension

Time marches on, Night City continues to stink, and our David is training.

Mann helped David complete the task assigned by his employer, Vito. Mr. Doff's men have now reunited with Mr. Doff, but Mann also discovered that although David is talented, he lacks training. In short, David needs special training.

David trained his physical fitness at night, his combat skills in the morning, and his marksmanship in the afternoon. During the training, he also became more and more familiar with the other members of Mann's team.

Captain Mann, a burly veteran, is the backbone and decision-maker of the team, responsible for liaising with the intermediaries, and is equipped with powerful prosthetics.

Vice-captain Dorio, a burly female warrior, is skilled in combat and serves as Mann's right-hand woman. She is adept at calming down her teammates.

Lucy, the team's hacker, is responsible for the team's intelligence gathering and cybersecurity, and is skilled in using monomolecular wire.

Qiwei, a hacker in the team, is responsible for network intrusion. She wears a mask and is skilled at hacking into prosthetic bodies.

Pierre, a technical expert, provides technical support and equipment maintenance for the team.

Rebecca, Pierre's sister, is one of the team's gunners. She is petite but has excellent marksmanship.

boom!

David missed the target again. As he fired, he unconsciously thought of the day his mother had her car accident. He shook his head.

"Only by working hard and improving can I protect my mother!"

David silently recited the command in his mind, then fired a shot. Although it didn't hit the bullseye, it was still much better than before.

Mann then arrived at the shooting range.

"You need to practice with a different gun. The gun Vito gave you will be better for you after you've practiced with it. Using it now will only make you less comfortable with other guns."

David stroked the short, sturdy Ghost-Slayer, then locked the safety and put it in its holster.

"I knew this gun was different."

Rebecca pulled the short, sharp Ghostblade from David's holster with a speed that David couldn't even react to, and then fired a few shots at the target.

boom! boom! boom!

The three shots hit the target precisely in the head and face.

"David, where did you get such a great gun?"

Rebecca put her arm around David's and asked him in her usual coquettish tone.

"Uh, this is from Vito. He's a gun expert. Uh, I'll go ask him how much it would cost to modify another one."

Rebecca cheered, then reluctantly holstered the gun back in David's holster and asked.

"David, what's the name of your gun?"

David replied somewhat embarrassedly.

"Short, short and sharp, even ghosts fear it."

"Tch! That sounds awful. Don't forget to ask David for me~"

After saying that, Rebecca left the shooting range to buy a soft drink.

Mann walked over to David and continued to instruct him on shooting.

"I spoke with Vito on the phone today and told him that the commission was completed."

David aimed as he replied to Mann.

"What did Vito say?"

Mann corrects David's movements.

"He asked about your situation, and I said everything was fine, and you're currently undergoing special training."

David fired two shots, getting one step closer to the bullseye.

"Thank you, Mann. How's Vito doing lately? I haven't been able to talk to him much these past few days while staying at the Sakura Market."

Mann paused for a moment, then gave a wry smile and said...

"His name is all over the Valley. He's now the most efficient mercenary in the Valley."

David was also taken aback, and after missing the target with his shot, he asked again.

"Mann, could you explain in more detail?"

Mann showed David Vito's information about his middleman.

Name: Vito

Team: Medical Dispute Mediation Team

Team members: Vito, Jack Wells

Team prosthetics: Qilu Si's prosthetic eye, ballistic coprocessor, subcutaneous armor (self-proclaimed, no record of prosthetic implantation).

Evaluation: Highly efficient and precise, adept at small-team infiltration and hostage rescue; team leader Vito is skilled in stealth and assassination; the team possesses formidable firepower and powerful weapons of unknown origin.

Mann continued.

"I've seen many marginalized individuals emerge suddenly, but without exception, they all have the support of a company. I've never seen anyone like Vito before. The day before yesterday, they took on five commissions at once, and just yesterday, all five commissions were completed and delivered."

David tightened his grip on the gun; he needed to focus on training and couldn't let Vito down.

Meanwhile, on the other side...

"Jack, what is the goal of this commission?"

Jack's eyes were red, a sign of a brain scan.

"Anne Cornwall went missing 37 minutes ago. Her last known location was at the Fuji Bar, which is controlled by the Tiger Claw Gang. She is suspected of being kidnapped by the Tiger Claw Gang. The team needs to infiltrate the Fuji Bar to rescue the target. If the target is dead, bring back the body and clear out the Fuji Bar."

Vito examined the firearms he had brought and asked, puzzled.

"Had he already made plans for his death after only 37 minutes of being out of contact? Who commissioned him to do this?"

Instead of bringing his handsaw, Jack brought two new pistols, both modified by Vito and named "Golden Fierce Woman."

"The middleman didn't say who the client was, but judging from this approach, it seems like something a certain company specializes in."

Vito had his weapons ready.

"Then let's do it our way. Since the customer has expectations, let's not be wishy-washy. After we finish this job, we have another one later. Both jobs pay well, you can buy a new motorcycle."

Jack put the gun away.

"I think we need to find a hacker, otherwise we're just playing blindly, relying purely on gut feeling."

Vito handed Jack two electromagnetic grenades.

"That makes sense. We'll have the old captain help us find someone and send the list to you later. If all else fails, I'll place an order with Mann's team in the next few days to borrow a hacker."

The two were ready and headed towards the entrance of Fuji Bar.

"Hey, the bar's closed, get out of here."

The Tiger Claw Gang henchman guarding the door flashed the weapon on his waist.

Just as Jack was about to speak, Vito swung a modified Shigure submachine gun from behind his waist and blew his underling's head off.

"What's the point of going to a venue if it's not open for business? Jack, same old routine: go in, fire, find the person, retreat."

Jack pulled out the golden shrew.

"Let's go, Mano! We're getting closer and closer to legend!"

Upon hearing the gunshot, the Tiger Claw gang members at Fuji Bar immediately went on high alert. Just as they pointed their guns at the door, an electromagnetic grenade flew in through the doorway.

Thump! Sizzle~

The electromagnetic grenade exploded, and those nearby fell down with arcs of electricity igniting their prosthetic bodies and weapons, while those further away had their prosthetic eyes flashed.

"Watch your eyes, Wuhu~"

Vito dashed into the bar, and Shigure's powerful firepower began to pour water. The original fifty-round magazine was modified by Vito to have one hundred and twenty-five rounds, which could suppress a large number of enemies. Meanwhile, Jack's golden-haired ruthless woman knocked down the gang members who were standing there dumbfounded.

"Enemy on the first floor cleared. I'll storm in from the left staircase. Jack, you go to the right!"

"Just you wait and see."

"Left staircase cleared, I'm moving to the manager's office!"

"Enemy encountered on the right. Electromagnetic grenade thrown. Vito, what's for dinner?"

"Anyway, I don't eat fried noodles. I've arrived at the manager's office door."

"Enemy on the right side cleared, approaching the side door of the manager's office."

"Received, simultaneous intrusion in three seconds."

"Just you wait and see!"
