Cyberpunk: I didn't cheat.

Chapter 37 Lost Lambs

To be honest, Vito is no longer sure if he is a machine or not; his human nature has become somewhat blurred.

But just as he was lost in thought, Gloria spoke to Jack.

"I completely agree with letting Vito find a partner or go out to relax; Vito has looked very tired lately."

Vito, unwilling to admit it, retorted.

"I'm fine. Not many people come to the shop at night, so I can always take it easy."

Jack suddenly thought of something and said.

"Speaking of which, I almost forgot about this. Old Wei found you a batch of goods that you can use in your shop. He went to great lengths to get them through connections."

Vito was puzzled.

"What kind of goods require so much effort from Lao Wei?"

Jack said mysteriously.

"These are all direct from the company. Old Wei said you need some good stuff to attract those who are picky about prosthetics and open up a market for them."

Vito smiled.

"Then we really have to thank Lao Wei. It's been a long time since I've seen him, and I've missed him quite a bit."

Jack sent Vito a document.

"The Devil's Boxing Club is organizing a small tournament. The champion can have a super championship match with the champions from each district. Old Wei has already arrived. How about it, want to go have some fun?"

Vito's eyes turned blue as he carefully examined the document.

"They're actually going to shut down part of the prosthetic body? Interesting. Whose idea was this?"

"It's said that the animal gang was the instigator, but they got stuck in Taiping State again. Now they're taking some time to organize a competition and open betting odds."

"Are the participants really that honest? Would they be willing to lock up their prosthetic bodies and fight honestly?"

"There are people from the Animal Gang guarding the place. That terrifying Savage King didn't come, but there's a girl named Rhino who's here to keep things in check. I've seen her before; she's a pretty pure boxer."

"Okay, I'll go check it out later and place a couple more bets. I don't know why, but I've recently really enjoyed gambling."

"Damn, Mano, we need to be careful. We should go to Old Wei's place for a check-up when we have time."

"Is it that serious?"

"I've heard that implanted prosthetics can cause these reactions: rejection, gambling, and apathy."

Vito quickly checked his prosthetic panel and found that he was still far from the limit, which reassured him a lot, but Jack's words also reminded him of something.

The data may not lie, but we are in a real world where anything can happen.

Gloria was also a little worried. She had Vito lie down on the clinic chair and prepared to examine him first.

Jack followed him inside, and upon seeing the chair, he remarked with emotion.

"Is this a clinic or a fully automated factory? Why are there so many robotic arms?"

Gloria explained to Jack.

"These were all modified by Vito. As long as they are connected to a personal connection, they can perform precise surgery. Vito dismantled a lot of things to modify them. In Vito's words, it was to improve his engineering capabilities."

Jack closed his gaping jaw.

"No wonder he spent so much money opening a clinic. I thought he bought a modified gun tool machine."

After a check-up, Vito's health was found to be normal, and Gloria and Vito were relieved.

"How about I stay at the shop tonight? If someone comes, I'll perform the surgery; if no one comes, I'll rest."

Gloria suggested.

"No need. If we keep people on call 24/7, it'll be bad if Saburo Arasaka comes to me demanding business advice."

Vito made a little joke.

"Are you really okay? Although you are healthy, I think you need to get some rest."

Gloria was still worried.

"Really, there's no need. Besides, can you really bear to let David come home every day to find his mother not there?"

Vito declined.

"David has grown up, and since Mann and the others have been on missions, David has been staying with them at the Cherry Blossom Market."

Gloria explained.

After David finished his training, he went on several missions with Mann's team and got along very well with the team members. In one raid to rescue his comrades from the Scavengers, he fired his first shot and accurately hit the Scavenger in the head.

Vito continued.

"I don't need to at the shop lately. There aren't many people there anyway. I'll just close the shop tonight and go hang out with Jack. Gloria, you don't need to worry too much about me."

Gloria nodded, and just then two people entered the shop.

"Doctor! Doctor!"

When Vito and his companions went outside, they saw a man and a woman dressed as mercenaries, with the woman being more seriously injured.

"Doctor, please save her!"

Gloria had the patient lie down in the chair in preparation for treatment.

Suddenly, something unexpected happened. There were a few creaks at the door, and three SUVs stopped. Eight or nine fully armed people who looked like homeless people got out of the cars.

The male mercenary took a deep breath of his gun, then drew his weapon, ready for a desperate fight.

Just as he was about to rush out of the clinic, Vito grabbed him with one hand.

"Don't panic, no one can cause trouble at Gunfire Children's Clinic."

The people outside had already rushed to the clinic entrance with their weapons, crowding together as if each of them wanted to kill the people inside first.

Cool! Crack!

The cannons in Vito's shop protrude.

dong dong dong dong!

The muffled gunshots seemed to strike one's heart.

The 17mm special rounds cut these people in half at the waist. The pre-programmed program was perfect. The turret didn't waste a single bullet. In just one second, those who were just shouting didn't even have a chance to groan.

"You'll have to pay extra for the bullets. If you bring trouble again next time, I won't let you in so easily."

Vito patted the mercenary on the shoulder and then walked out the door.

Stepping over a still twitching severed limb, Vito walked to the SUV and began to appraise its value, then contacted the old captain to come and collect the vehicle.

"Hey Vito, I got the message. Send me a picture of the car. Okay, I'll have someone come to the valley to pick it up right away."

"The car is right in front of my shop. I'll give you another discount, but could you send a few people to clean up in front of my shop? I still need to stay open!"

"Great! That was a good deal. Remember to call me next time!"

After hanging up the phone, Vito waved for the mercenaries to come over.

"Each bullet costs 240, and eleven bullets were fired in total. No objections, right?"

The mercenary was a little dumbfounded.

"Uh, no, no problem!"

Vito lit a cigarette to dispel the surrounding smell of blood.

"Who are they? What deep-seated grudge do they have against you that they're chasing you like this?"

The mercenary paused for a moment before speaking.

"They're the Night Wanderers' men, here to steal our goods!"

"Night-walking ghosts? These people got through border control so easily?"

"Now, border control officers will let anyone in as long as they're paid!"

Vito felt relieved.

"Privatizing law enforcement agencies—whoever came up with that idea is a genius. And what about you? Mercenaries? Wanderers?"

"We are wanderers, from the Snake Clan. My name is Carol Foster. Thank you for your help."

Vito nodded.

"My name is Vito. Welcome to Gunfire Children's Clinic. Would you like to buy a modified gun for self-defense? I'd also support you having your gun tested at the shooting range."
