"Holy crap, Mano, it's only been a short time, and we're already going to give birth here?"

Jack kept shouting excitedly in his loud voice.

"Wow, this is awesome, Vito. We can come in and give birth so quickly, and sit at the same table with those big shots. Damn, just thinking about it is exciting."

Vito didn't dampen Jack's enthusiasm; in fact, he felt a great sense of accomplishment for bringing Jack from a fledgling mercenary into the workforce and fulfilling his dream. All of this brought Vito genuine joy.

"Rogge's men sent word that Rogge has a job for us, and we'll talk about it today."

Vito handed his good friend a bottle of beer.

"Rogge? The Queen of the Next Life, my God! She's truly a living legend of Night City! What are we waiting for, Vito? Let's go!"

Jack quickly downed a bottle of beer and then dragged Vito to the Resurrection nightclub.

"Hey! Wait a minute, Jack! The next life is a bar, are we supposed to go there in broad daylight and they'll open it?"

Vito wanted to linger a little longer, but Jack couldn't afford to waste any more time.

"The next life is a place for business deals; bars are just a side business. Let's go, you have a competition tonight!"

Vito had no choice but to activate the Magician's auto-pathfinding feature to bring the car to the two of them.

"Alright, get in the car, legend!"

Along the way, Jack talked non-stop about the history of the afterlife, telling stories of the legends who had lived there, while Vito would occasionally comment and respond to Jack.

When the car arrived at the entrance of the Afterlife, Vito breathed a sigh of relief. If it had taken another half hour, Jack would have gone from being completely impressed to being utterly disappointed by the Afterlife Legend.

The afterlife is on the basement level, which used to be a morgue. The two went down the stairs to the door, where a burly bodyguard was blocking the entrance. Two NCPD officers were complaining at the door, saying that their suspect had just entered the afterlife, while they were being kept out.

This is one of the reasons why Jack was excited; not just any Tom, Dick, or Harry can enter the afterlife.

Moreover, there are even fewer people like them who are invited by Roger to take on jobs in the afterlife.

Bodyguard Emeric Brunson blocked the two men and asked.

"What are you here for?"

Just as Jack was about to speak, Vito naturally blocked Jack's path with his left hand and said...

"I am Vito, and he is Jack."

The bodyguard made a brain call, and a few seconds later he spoke.

"Welcome to the next life, please come in!"

The two walked in, and Jack lowered his voice and said.

"Wow, Vito, that's got the boss vibe!"

As Jack approached the bar, he said excitedly.

"Look at these chairs! Morgan Blackhand, Weyland the Old Serpent—they must have all sat in them. These are legendary figures!"

Vito didn't care who had sat on the bar chairs; he looked towards the billiards area to the right of the door, where a small team was making a ruckus.

They must have just returned from a mission. One of them was badly injured and was placed on a billiard table. A man who looked like the captain was calling a doctor, while the others were pressing on the bleeding wound.

"What?! You're saying you can't come?! Do you believe I'll come to your clinic and smash it up?!"

"You're here whether you want to or not! Got it? Damn it! That son of a bitch's dead! We'll have to figure this out ourselves! How's Tiger doing?"

The conversation failed, and the team leader anxiously inquired about the team members' situation.

"Tiger can't stop the bleeding, the bullet is still inside him! Ryan, where's the doctor? He's about to die!"

Ryan was also very anxious. When the doctor heard that he was going to Laisheng to treat someone and that there were tickets blocking the door, he immediately refused to come. Ryan talked until his saliva was dry, but the doctor was unwilling to move an inch out of the clinic.

Vito walked over and said.

"I'm a doctor, I'll handle removing the bullet."

Ryan looked at Vito with some suspicion.

"You? Can you do it?"

Vito didn't waste any unnecessary words.

"Either I kill him, or I bring him back to life, or he lies here bleeding to death, and nobody gets to play billiards!"

Ryan hesitated for a few seconds, but finally decided to let Vito treat the players.

Vito pulled out a sharp knife and told Ryan to go to the bar and buy a bottle of strong liquor.

"I threw this knife into someone's head a few days ago. I just wiped it off casually. I probably need to disinfect it."

Ryan felt even more uncertain. The person in front of him looked more like an assassin than a prosthetic doctor.

After buying the alcohol, Ryan did some simple disinfection with Vito, then quickly removed the bullet from the injured man's body, used the bar's first aid kit to stitch him up, and finally asked Jack to get out the pneumatic injection device and give the injured man an injection.

"Huh? You guys carry pneumatic injection devices with you?"

Ryan asked, and watching Vito's quick movements, Ryan was now starting to believe that Vito was a doctor.

"Of course, since I'm a doctor, it's normal for my team members to carry pneumatic injections with them. Remember to pay for the syringes. Your team member can only last two days at most without seeing another doctor; he'll need a transfusion of artificial blood to recover. Oh, by the way, my clinic is in Heywood, called Gunfire Kids. They also sell modified guns there; you can come and take a look."

"Uh, okay, thank you!"

Vito and Jack returned to the bar and sat down, whereupon the bartender approached them to strike up a conversation.

"Hey, my name is Claire. What would you two like to drink?"

"A glass of old-fashioned tequila, with some beer and chili!"

Jack orders.

"Ah, looks like someone did their homework. A Johnny Silver Hand, how about you?"

"A glass of 400 Rabbit Dionysus with ice."

Soon, two glasses of wine were placed in front of the two of them.

"Say something, Vito."

Jack suggested.

"A tribute to Jack Wells, the second step in a legend!"

Ding!

The two glasses clinked together, and then they drank them down in one gulp.

"Your technique is quite good. Are you a prosthetic doctor?"

Claire asked.

"I have a prosthetic clinic, and today is the first time I've treated and saved a life."

Vito replied.

"So you're a kind-hearted person who loves to help others?"

Claire found Vito very interesting.

"No, it's just that today is my buddy's big day, and I don't want to come out after finishing my business and find someone dead here."

"How interesting! Would you two like to leave your recipes here?"

Vito gestured for Jack to go first.

"I'll go first. My name is Jack Wells. My recipe is vodka on the rocks, lime juice, ginger beer, and most importantly, a little love."

Jack revealed his recipe.

"Okay, got it. I wish you become a legend of Night City! And you?"

Claire noted down the recipe and then looked at Vito.

"My name is Vito. My recipe doesn't taste good, so I won't torture these drinkers."

"No, Mano, your recipe is great! Really!"

"Let's talk about becoming legends later, Jack. We still have business to discuss today."

Vito stepped down from his chair and led Jack to a booth to wait for the business negotiations.

A few minutes later, Queen Roger, the reincarnation of the Queen, appeared before the two.

"As far as I know, you are Vito, right? This is Jack Wells."

Vito nodded slightly.

"Your information is correct."

"Alright, let's talk business then. I have a request, and I'm wondering if you have the capability to handle it?"
