Cyberpunk: I didn't cheat.

Chapter 43 ponpon shit

"There's a journalist named Romano who needs an elite team to help him with an infiltration mission. I think you'd be a good fit for the job."

Roger's voice was calm and composed, possessing an indescribable sense of control.

"And the payment?"

This is what Vito is most concerned about.

"Don't worry, our media person is very generous; he's willing to spend a lot of money."

Rogge liked this kind of straightforward person; in her eyes, this kind of mercenary was the easiest to control and the least likely to cause problems.

"Okay, give me the mission attachments and Romano's contact information."

Vito readily agreed after receiving a substantial reward as a guarantee.

"Very good, I wish you all the best."

Roger handed Vito a chip, then left the booth while making a phone call. It seems being the queen in the next life isn't so easy; there are always endless phone calls.

Vito read the chip and muttered something after reading the entire mission.

"Interesting, he's trying to make a big splash."

After reviewing the mission details, Vito handed the chip to Jack and then dialed Romano's number using the provided contact information.

beep~ beep~

"Hello, who is this?"

"My name is Vito, the mercenary Rogge found for you."

"Oh, it's you. Roger told me, when are you guys...?"

"It's inconvenient to talk over the phone, how about we meet in person?"

Romano paused for a moment, then agreed.

"Sure, where would you like to meet?"

"How about Haywood's Wolf Bar?"

"good!"

The phone hangs up.

"Jack, how's it going? Finished watching?"

"I've finished watching it. This life's work is really different, it's amazing!"

"After you've finished reading it, send a copy to Bug as well, so she can prepare. We'll meet the client at Wild Wolf later."

Suppressing his excitement about his first job in his next life, Jack called T-bug and the two rushed back to the Wild Wolf Bar.

The client arrived after half an hour at Wild Wolf, proving that Night City's multi-modal transportation system really does save a lot of time.

Romano, guided by Pepi, went up to the second floor and met the mercenary who had been urging Rogge for some time.

"Hello, I'm Romano, a journalist."

"Hello, I'm Vito, and this is Jack Wells."

"Alright, let's get straight to the point. When can you begin your mission?"

Romano looked a little anxious.

"If you want, you can do it in two hours. It's just stealing data from a biotechnology branch, not the entire Gum Pik Building. It's not that complicated."

Vito shrugged.

Hearing Vito say this, Romano began to have second thoughts; he felt that Vito wasn't very reliable.

"Listen, this is biotechnology. Even a branch office isn't a place just anyone can get into! I've spent a fortune, so don't mess it up!"

Seeing that Romano was getting a little anxious, Jack tried to comfort him.

"Don't worry, our team's motto is precision and efficiency. If Vito says it can be done, then it definitely can be done."

Seeing this, Romano could only suppress his anxiety and give instructions.

"Alright, I have no choice but to trust you. But I'm warning you, you can't make this a spectacle of a gunfight in the biotech branch that the whole city is watching. Your job is to go in, find the computers, download the data, and then quietly slip away!"

Vito extended his right hand after hearing this.

"It seems we have the same plan on this matter. Let's shake hands, Mr. Romano. You just need to spend an afternoon drinking at Wild Wolves, and you'll get the data you want after dinner."

Romano shook Vito's hand.

"I hope so."

"You won't be disappointed. Come on, Jack, have Peppy bring our client a bottle of tequila. I'll pay for it."

The two then drove to the T3 branch of the biotechnology company; the two brothers had spent the entire day on the road.

"Hey, Bug, how's the biotechnology side? Did they get what we wanted?"

"I've taken advantage of the power supply route here and obtained the company's layout diagram. I'm sending it to you now, but are you sure you want to break into the company in broad daylight and steal data?"

"Don't worry, there's one more thing. Bug, I need you to enter their subnet and share the camera, but don't take full control, so as not to alert them."

"That's a good idea, but how are you going to get in?"

"I'll find a biotech employee, then use a disguise device to steal his facial recognition ID to get in. Once I'm inside, you'll find their server through the camera, I'll upload the virus, download the data, and then leave."

"OK, if that's all, I only need eleven minutes."

After hanging up the phone, the two arrived at the Biotechnology T3 branch, a branch in the eastern part of Night City, which was specifically responsible for the new project in the Badlands region.

"Alright, let's find a lucky one."

Vito began to observe the people around him.

Jack asked, puzzled.

"How do you know who people in biotechnology are?"

Vito handed Jack a cigarette, then pointed to the people around him and said.

"This isn't downtown. There's only one biotech company standing here. We can tell who's a corporate dog just by looking at them in a suit."

Soon, a man of similar build to Vito, dressed in a company suit, came into their view.

"That's him! He's probably going to the parking lot. Follow him!"

Jack drove slowly, following the company dog.

Just as he was about to get to his car, Vito, having hacked the camera, appeared behind him.

"I hope you're not a member of the Trauma Corporation."

Ti~

With a flick of his wrist, Vito silently pierced the side of the company dog's neck with a miniature syringe, instantly injecting a highly effective anesthetic. The dog's body went limp, and Vito steadily caught it and tossed it into the Magician's Box.

"Alright, Jack, drive around a bit, I'll install a shielding chip on him."

Vito connected the portable terminal to the company dog's data cable.

"Bug, scan his behavior and personal information."

"OK, wait a moment."

Vito pulled out a portable scanner and began reading the company dog's facial ID, muttering under his breath.

"You're in luck. This is the secret equipment I prepared for when I became the Messenger of the Night. I originally wanted to get a face like Lai Xuan's."

"OK, all done. Santos Roger, biotechnology employee, clearance level 02. He can appear in most areas of the branch office, but the core area requires special clearance. Once you get in, you may have to figure out a way to enter the server room."

An hour later.

After the Face ID scan was complete, Vito uploaded the data to the facial disguise, put it on, and asked Jack.

"How do I look?"

"He's almost as good as this dog in a suit now."

Why do I feel like you're insulting me?

Vito changed into his suit and took a moment to adjust to his new face.

"Bug fixed. We'll begin operations in ten minutes. Hopefully, technology can change our lives."

"The unexamined life is not worth living."

"Plato? That's interesting, a bug."
