Norn watched as the dark figures slowly approached the swaying carriage and decided to do the couple a favor.

He patted Arno, who was talking about grass roots, and pointed to the few dark figures moving slowly in the distance, making a throat-slitting gesture.

It swallowed the bits of grass in its mouth and stood up, supporting itself on all fours.

Norn flipped over and straddled Arno's back, gripping its shoulders with both hands and thinking to himself, "Don't make too much noise, or you'll scare them away."

The dark figures had completely approached the carriage. By the moonlight, Norn could see that the figures were actually several demi-humans dressed in black.

They surrounded the carriage, and one of the small, demi-humans pulled a thin bamboo tube from under his cloak. One end of the tube was connected to a bulging leather pouch.

It carefully approached the car window, placed the end of the bamboo tube over the gap in the curtain, and pressed the leather bag with its other hand, preparing to squeeze it to force the hypnotic gas inside.

A gleaming longsword suddenly emerged from the carriage, piercing through the curtain and piercing the head of the demi-human wielding a bamboo tube.

The sword tip trembled and retracted from behind the head, and the demi-human's body collapsed limply to the ground.

The carriage door was kicked open, and the man wearing a felt hat stepped out.

He was fully clothed, with a long sword in his hand, the bloodstains on the blade gleaming a dark red under the moonlight.

"You really think I'm doing something legitimate? I'm just seducing you trash who resort to night raids!"

The man's gaze fell on Norn, who had arrived late, riding on Arno's back, and he snorted coldly:

"So that's why you let us go so easily, you went to call for reinforcements."

Norn quickly jumped off Arno's back. "It's a misunderstanding. I'm not with them."

The man ignored Norn's explanation and his gaze swept over the other thieves.

Judging from their clumsy sword-wielding posture, he concluded that these people were weaklings who couldn't fight, and his expression became even more contemptuous.

He transformed into a blur, his longsword drawing a silver arc in the air as it slashed straight at the nearest black-robed demi-human.

The demi-human quickly raised its sword to block its torso, but the man twisted his wrist and slashed at its neck.

The blade swept across its neck, and a lizardman's head, trailing a crimson tail, flew into the air before silently landing on the ground.

The other black-robed demi-humans panicked upon seeing this.

They're all untrained amateurs; how could they possibly defeat a Gold-level adventurer?

The thieves quickly scattered, none of them wanting to get close to the man.

Instead of chasing after the fleeing demi-humans, the man set his sights on Norn as his next target.

He rushed forward, his longsword aimed directly at Norn's throat.

When Arno saw something rushing towards him, he casually threw a punch.

The man chuckled inwardly, "You big oaf, trying to catch my sword with your fists?"

Instead of dodging, he aimed his longsword at Arno's fist and slashed down hard!

"clang!"

The longsword shattered the moment it touched Arno's fist. The man's pupils contracted sharply, and the contempt on his face turned into horror in an instant.

"Arnold! Don't kill anyone!"

Norn's warning came a little too late; Arno had just eased off when the man's face collided with his fist.

The man's head lolled to one side, and he fell asleep on the ground like a puppet with its strings cut.

"Oh dear, are you alright?" Norn quickly reached out to touch the man's neck. "He's alright, he's just passed out."

Suddenly, screams and sounds of fighting erupted from inside the carriage.

The demi-humans did not give up. Taking advantage of Norn's distraction of the men, several of them rushed into the carriage and subdued the woman.

A demi-human hurried out to catch the carriage, turning back before leaving to call out, "Thanks, brother!"

"Damn it, Arnold, go after them!"

Norn skillfully jumped onto Arno's shoulder, and Arno ran towards him.

In less than half a minute, Arno caught up with the carriage.

With a leap, it landed heavily in front of the carriage, its gray-black body blocking the way like a wall.

The demi-human driving the carriage pulled hard on the reins to steady the horse. The horse looked at the strange man in tattered clothes before it with terror and said:

"Brother, how about this, we'll split the stuff in this car equally, can you make way for us?"

Norn chuckled and joked, "But if I kill you, everything will be mine."

The demi-human driving the carriage stiffened, turned around and whispered a few words to his companion in the carriage.

After a while, a tall, muscular demi-human emerged from the carriage, jumped down, and walked with the driver to Norn. The tall demi-human began to speak:

"Young man, we've discussed it. You can have the carriage and the woman; we just want the horse. What do you say?"

Seeing that Norn didn't answer, the demi-human driving the carriage quickly played the victim: "Brother, we've been orphans since we were little, and we only did this because we don't have any skills. Please have mercy and give us something to eat."

It spoke with heartfelt emotion, its voice trembling with a hint of tears, as it wiped away its own.

Norn wasn't a bloodthirsty person, and seeing them like this made him hesitate, but keeping them around would only cause trouble for other passersby in the future.

Finally, Norn came up with a compromise: he would cripple them all.

Just as Norn was thinking, the two demi-humans suddenly took a step back and sprinkled a handful of black lavender powder on Norn and his companions!

It's that trick again!

Norn immediately covered his mouth and nose, while mentally giving Arno the order: "Kill them!"

Arno seemed to have planned to kill them all along; as soon as he gave the order, his right fist lashed out.

The gray-black fist smashed into the head of the cart driver, causing it to explode on the spot. The headless corpse swayed for a moment before collapsing limply to the ground.

The tall, subhuman turned to run, but Arno slapped it on the back. The immense force slammed its entire body into the ground, the sound of its sternum cracking clearly audible. Blood gushed from its mouth and nose, pooling in a small puddle on the grass.

The remaining few demi-humans in the carriage heard the commotion outside and knew that the negotiations had broken down. They immediately dragged the woman with a bruised and swollen face out of the carriage.

A demi-human held a knife to her neck, the blade pressed against her skin, ready to cut at any moment.

"Don't come any closer!" the demi-human shouted fiercely. "If you come any closer, I'll kill her!"

Norn hid his right hand behind his back and secretly used dark magic.

The demi-human suddenly felt a sharp pain in its wrist, as if something was wriggling beneath its skin. It instinctively looked down:

A tiny hand is growing out of its wrist!

That little hand was only the size of a baby's fist, with its five fingers spread out, its skin pink and tender, and it didn't even have nails.

It emerged from the side of the wrist and tightly enveloped the blade.

"Go ahead, Arnold, but don't hurt that woman."

Arno nodded, walked over, and started hitting and tearing things apart. In no time, the ground was covered with corpses.
