17. Using a cannon to kill a mosquito

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Several bolts of lightning struck, and hordes of demons were reduced to mangled limbs that flew through the air.

Norn looked at the dust-filled open space and felt an extreme sense of comfort.

"This is so relaxing!"

In this situation, Norn was inspired to write a poem.

But lacking in literary talent, he couldn't come up with a single appropriate line of poetry even after a long time.

"Damn, I'm not reciting poetry anymore."

He used his magic to summon a bolt of white lightning that struck the ground.

Using thunder as a brush and the earth as a scroll, white thunder raced across the ground, leaving behind a large, regular script character:

"Cool"!

That's a really powerful word!

Norn was admiring his calligraphy when he suddenly heard footsteps beneath his feet.

A battered adventurer ran with all his might, pursued relentlessly by a giant porcupine.

The king descended from the sky, his face contorted in a ferocious grimace!

Norn leaped down and landed heavily in front of the adventurer.

Don't be afraid, the hero is here!

Norn was about to electrocute the porcupine behind him when the man saw Barnabas blocking his way, and his extremely tense nerves completely collapsed.

He screamed hysterically, drew his sword, and committed suicide.

Not a buddy!?

If you had waited for me for even a second...

The porcupines behind saw that their prey had died from a metal allergy, so they ran up to eat it.

Just as it opened its mouth to bite, a bolt of lightning ripped its head open.

"What a pity, brother."

Norn walked to the corpse, clasped his hands together in prayer, and then squatted down to start feeling around.

But it seems that in order to escape, this person also threw away his backpack, and after searching inside and out, he found a bloodstained scimitar.

Norn's gaze shifted to the porcupine's carcass. Norn recognized the porcupine, but forgot its exact name, only vaguely remembering that it seemed to be a kind of demon-devouring monster.

Sure enough, Norn found a large red magic crystal on its back, which was of even better quality than the one on the Rock Dragon Lizard!

Norn happily put it away, intending to take it back and bury it next to his body, and bring it back to the surface after the storm had passed.

Several flashes of cold light streaked across the sky, and the heads of the six king snakes were separated from their bodies.

Lisfield swung her sword, scattering the snake blood to the ground.

The steel-class adventurer Joso sliced open the snake's belly and reached inside to rummage around.

"No need to look anymore, the young lady couldn't possibly be inside. Ten monsters of this level wouldn't be enough for her to fight."

After Lisfield finished speaking, Joso awkwardly withdrew his hand; he had originally intended to collect some snake gallbladders.

"The king cobra's lair is just ahead."

Baron, another Steel-ranked adventurer in the group, said that he had worked in the Rotten River Dungeon for five years and was quite familiar with the fifth floor.

When the group arrived at the location, the desolate scene shocked them greatly.

The place that was once full of trees is now empty, and the ground is covered with the charred remains of monsters and traces of lightning strikes.

Just looking at it makes you imagine how fierce the battle must have been.

"Monsters don't usually attack each other during a riot, so these might have been caused by Miss Austin fighting one of the monsters..."

Josso carefully reminded them, implying that Austin was dead.

The other adventurers nodded in agreement. Whether the young lady lived or died was none of their business; they just wanted to get back and collect their rewards as soon as possible.

Lisfield's gaze was intense as she looked at the gruesome marks and couldn't help but swallow hard.

Given Austin's strength, it's not impossible for him to fight a high-level monster to this extent. Maybe one of the charred corpses scattered all over the ground below is Austin?

"Shut up! If you say another one of those discouraging things, you're out of the team right now!"

Louisa glared at Josso. "Keep looking!"

They crossed the razed forest and came to the place where Austin had slain the king cobra.

Lisfield looked around and gave the order:

"You guys go inside the cave and search, Luisa and I will search outside."

Joso didn't want to go into the dark cave, so he lied and said he had claustrophobia and asked to search from the outside.

After the group entered the cave, Louisa cast a search spell on the spot to sense the creatures around her.

Just as she was fully focused on sensing, a sudden humanoid creature entered the spell's range.

"There's something here, it must be a monster, it's coming."

As soon as Louisa finished speaking, Joso was terrified by the dark figure in the distance.

"Barnabas!"

Seeing his reaction, Lissfield immediately drew her sword as well.

"My lords, I'm not trying to be pessimistic, but if the monster that the young lady encountered was this one, then it would probably be a matter of life and death."

Then Joso gave the two some more information about Barnabas, explaining that the use of lightning magic matched the scorched earth outside perfectly, which was basically irrefutable.

Louisa trembled with anger upon hearing this, her slightly immature face filled with grief and indignation.

She gripped her wand tightly, ready to unleash all her fury on the monster.

Norn, clutching the magic crystal, felt a headache coming on when he saw the person standing in front of the cave entrance.

"Is there some great treasure hidden here? Why are so many people here?"

"Let's scare them with two claps of thunder. If they still don't run away, then slap them twice more."

Norn was pondering how to drive them away when a ringing sound suddenly rang in his ears.

The sound came from the sky, and he looked up abruptly.

On the dome of the underground city, shrouded in mist, an extremely large blue magic circle was rapidly expanding.

The magic circle continued to drop several more blue rings, which hovered in the air at regular intervals.

Norn sensed something was wrong and quickly ran away.

"Cover your eyes, be careful sand doesn't fly in."

Louisa whispered a reminder, her aura rising around her, billowing her white robes, and the magic crystal on her wand gradually increasing in intensity.

⌈Seventh-Order Magic • Skyfall⌋

An enormous blue energy pillar fell from the magic array in the sky and slammed into the earth like a pile driver.

The enormous impact kicked up clouds of dust that swept in all directions.

"It's simply a miracle..."

Joso raised his arms to protect his face, peering through the gaps at the exaggerated power.

Norn couldn't escape; he was slammed into the ground by the terrifying force and couldn't even lift his head.

He felt himself falling with the ground, the blue magical energy like countless scalpels cutting into his body at an extremely fast speed.

The seemingly indestructible scales turned to dust in just a few seconds, and the flesh inside couldn't even last a second.

pain!It hurts so much!

Extreme pain surged into Norn's brain, and his consciousness was worn away by the agony.

The magic ended, the smoke and dust dissipated, and a giant crater forty meters in diameter and twenty meters deep appeared on the ground.

Barnabas's body and the magic crystal turned to dust.

Looking at the empty pit, Louisa suddenly broke down in tears, "You brat, why did you have to come here?"

Lisfield patted her on the shoulder, unsure how to comfort her.

At this moment, the group exploring the cave heard the noise and ran out. Baron was still holding Norn's body in his arms.

"I found this in the cave!"
