A rock fortress stood in the eastern part of Miguang City, and Norn was forced inside with his hands and feet bound.

They threw Norn into a dimly lit cell. A wooden cross stood in the center of the room, and various instruments of torture were scattered haphazardly on a wooden table next to it, still covered with dried blood.

"I've said it so many times on the way here! I was fooled by Batel and his gang; I really know nothing about their whereabouts!"

"Hmph, whether you know it or not isn't up to you. I'll know if you're really capable once I've tried all these torture instruments on you. Lock him up!"

A short fox-man walked in and spoke to the two demi-humans escorting Norn.

Norn was pinned to a cross by a demi-human, while another bound Norn's hands and feet to iron rings.

The fox-man put on a pair of leather gloves and a demon-like iron mask, instantly transforming his aura into something terrifying.

"Don't watch what's coming next, go outside," the fox-man said to the two demi-humans.

Then it picked up a tiny iron needle and a miniature hammer. "Which finger do you want to prick first?"

The fox-man waved the needle in front of Norn, trying to make Norn see the gleaming tip of the needle and instill fear in him.

Norn's gaze went beyond the needle tip, fixed on the eyes behind the iron mask. Silver-white magic circles appeared in his hands, and a winding white line slammed into the wooden table.

The wooden table shattered with an explosion, scattering torture instruments all over the floor.

"You, you actually know magic!" The fox-man took a step back in horror, his hand holding the needle hammer trembling slightly with fear.

"Shall we continue? I won't miss my next shot."

At that moment, the iron door of the room was suddenly kicked open.

The cat-man who had captured Norn earlier walked in, clutching a spherical bottle filled with purple potion.

"Berto? How did you get in?" the fox-man asked, removing his mask.

Then it saw the bottle of potion in Berto's hand, and its face turned deathly pale with fright: "Where did you get this?!"

Berto didn't answer, quickly pulled the cork off the bottle and was about to walk towards Norn when he was immediately stopped by the fox-man.

"Are you fucking insane?! If anyone finds out, you and I will both be dead!"

"Get out of my way! I don't have time to waste on your nonsense. My Mira is still in those bastard humans' hands! I need to get her right now!"

"I know you're very anxious because your daughter has been kidnapped. I'll get things out of this kid very soon. Don't you trust my skills?"

Berto's gaze swept quickly across the messy ground, where the remains of several wooden tables were still on fire: "You're lucky you weren't killed by this kid."

"These are minor issues. I'll borrow an anti-magic cloak from Falk. You hurry up and seal the Soul-Stealing Potion!"

Berto kicked the fox-man away and pointed at Norn, saying, "I don't know what this kid is up to, but since he dared to turn himself in, he must be prepared to be tortured! I don't think your methods will yield any useful information."

"Besides, interrogating people by torture takes too long, and my Mira can't wait that long..."

Berto calmed himself down and continued, "I understand your concerns. If anyone asks, just put all the blame on me."

Norn stared at the strangely colored potion, completely bewildered.

What is this stuff? Is it truth serum? But judging from their reactions, it seems to be strictly prohibited in Miguang City.

However, it is certain that this is not a poison like the venom of the Neva worm, otherwise why would they ask questions if they killed themselves?

Berto walked up to Norn. "Open your mouth."

"What is this stuff? Are you trying to make me drink this weird stuff? No way!"

Norn pursed his lips into his mouth, pressing them firmly against his teeth.

"Don't refuse a polite toast only to suffer the consequences! Open your mouth obediently and you'll avoid physical pain!"

Berto's bloodshot eyes glared fiercely at Norn, then he bent down, picked up a scalpel, and aimed it at Norn's crotch.

"Okay, okay, I'll drink it!"

Almost at the same time Norn opened his mouth, the neck of the spherical bottle was roughly shoved in.

The purple liquid flowed into Norn's mouth, and the bitter taste instantly numbed his tongue.

Berto stopped immediately after drinking half a bottle and placed the remaining half on a wooden table not far from the execution rack.

Norn lowered his head, stuck out his tongue, and spat out the remaining medicine mixed with saliva from his mouth.

"That's good enough, let's go. It should take effect by tonight." Berto said weakly, covered in a cold sweat, as if he had just done something heinous.

"Should we just leave this bottle here? What if someone sees it?" the fox-person said, still shaken.

After Berto finished speaking, he left. Before leaving, the fox-man looked at Norn with pity in his eyes and said, "Poor man."

Norn spat out the medicine, but his mouth still tasted terribly bitter.

"What on earth did they give me to drink? And this truth serum takes way too long to work! It doesn't even take effect until night?"

Norn waited quietly for the changes in his body, and after a few minutes, a sudden change occurred!

That was a ruthless move. Norn still felt lingering fear when he recalled what he had just experienced, but it was also an opportunity for him to clear himself of suspicion.
