Chapter 57 Fenrir the Giant Wolf

Su Mo sped forward, dodging the endless stream of skeleton Valkyries that spawned ahead. When he couldn't dodge them, he used his heat ray to sweep them away; those attacking from behind were dealt with by Pudding. Black tentacles exploded from Su Mo's shoulders and back, tearing the approaching undead to shreds.

He was heading towards the center of Helheim. As for how he knew it was the center, it could only be attributed to his super hearing. Su Mo focused his attention and, in the deathly silence of the realm of the dead, caught the sounds of Hela, the goddess of death. (Superman can hear sounds from other universes within his own.)

Su Mo also figured out why he had unexpectedly fallen into Hel. It must be because Odin was about to lose control of Hela and had fallen into Odin's Sleep again. Hela took the opportunity to pull him in, hoping to find a way to leave the underworld from him.

Heimdall still hasn't activated the Bifrost to take him back, so he has to find his own way. The Ring portal is completely locked. Odin's seal acts like an invisible shield over the entire Underworld; faint runes can be seen in the far distance high in the sky, making it physically impossible to leave Helheim.

The bracelet's portal could be opened, but Su Mo feared Hela would simply follow him through it. In the Marvel Universe, Odin could suppress Hela's power, but in his world, she would likely be a fully-fledged, Goddess of Death at the level of a Celestial Father.

Just as Su Mo was pondering, Pudding's extended tentacle suddenly pulled him to the ground, dragging his entire body several meters to the side. A gaping maw slammed shut from where he had just been, the sound of teeth clashing so loudly it shook the air.

What is that?

Su Mo turned around and saw a colossal figure emerge from the thick black mist. The creature was at least thirty meters tall, surrounded by swirling black mist. It had used this mist to completely conceal its form and silently circle behind Su Mo to launch a sneak attack.

Considering the background of Helheim, it's either Cerberus or Fenrir. Judging from its low growl just now, it seems to be a husky... no, it's Fenrir.

The sneak attack failed, and the black mist around Fenrir began to dissipate. Its ears stood straight and sharp, its back tensed slightly, its head lowered, its gaze fixed on Su Mo, and its fur stood on end like a tuft of steel needles.

"Damn Hela." Su Mo cursed inwardly, but quickly cleared his mind. He needed to deal with the giant wolf first.

Unlike the fallen Valkyries who only possessed city-level strength, Fenrir, as Hela's battle pet, had at least planetary-level strength. He was roughly equal to her; it seemed she needed to get serious.

Fenrir's crimson vertical pupils narrowed to slits, and it leaped into the air, its limbs pushing off the ground. Its massive body, accompanied by black wind pressure, pressed down from mid-air, intending to use its weight and impact to pounce on Su Mo and knock him to the ground.

Su Mo retreated quickly, and Pudding's tentacles stretched out wildly, stabbing at Fenrir's eyes, ears, nostrils, and other vulnerable areas in mid-air. Fenrir dodged a few by tilting its head, but there were too many tentacles, and several still pierced its eye, splattering black blood. The moment Fenrir landed and was in the aftermath of its attack, Su Mo leaped up and delivered a powerful straight punch to its nose.

Fenrir's nose is one of the most sensitive parts of its body. This punch caused it to spurt blood and let out a loud "Awooo" scream. Its huge head instinctively swung, throwing Su Mo away.

Su Mo raised his arms to shield himself, taking the brunt of Fenrir's headbutt. He was sent flying at least a thousand meters, crashing into the distant sea of skeletons like a cannonball. The skeletons swarmed him instantly, attacking him frantically with swords and spears; those without weapons used their rotten teeth and broken bones, burying him like a layer of black sludge.

Pudding reacted immediately. Black liquid gushed from Su Mo's body, rapidly solidifying on his skin into countless sharp alloy saw blades, which then spun at high speed. A storm of blades exploded around Su Mo, and the skeleton soldiers were thrown into a meat grinder, with bone fragments and black blood scattering everywhere.

Su Mo stood up straight from the ground, shook the crumbs off his arms, and mentally praised Pudding. Then his gaze returned to the front. Fenrir was charging towards him, its hooves making the ground tremble.

After knocking Su Mo away, Fenrir licked its bleeding nose, then its lips curled up completely, revealing a mouthful of sharp fangs, and a deep, soul-shaking roar rumbled from its throat. It moved swiftly, its black claws surging with dark green divine power, and pounced on Su Mo, who had just gotten up.

Su Mo assumed a boxing stance, pulling the fake Infinity Gauntlet from his waist and putting it on. Pudding infused the gauntlet with magic, simultaneously strengthening Su Mo's muscles. The runes on the gauntlet glowed with a dark golden light, and Pudding's black patterns spread along Su Mo's arm to the back of his hand.

The moment Fenrir pounced, Su Mo dodged to his left, crouching low to avoid its claws and fangs. The giant wolf's body swept over his head, its soft belly fully exposed before him.

Su Mo swung his right fist behind him, his muscles tensed to the limit, his lower body firmly planted on the ground. His eyes were fixed on Fenrir's abdomen, and his right fist swung out at near the speed of light.

Time seemed to stand still. Su Mo watched as his fist slowly sank into Fenrir's abdomen, his entire forearm disappearing inside, like punching a warm water balloon. Then, the power exploded.

In an instant, Fenrir was sent flying by Su Mo's uppercut. Its massive body, like a kicked pebble, hurtled towards the skies above Helheim at near-light speed until it crashed into the runic barrier erected by Odin.

On the ground, Su Mo swung his right arm, watched Fenrir slowly fall from the sky, and immediately flew after it, wanting to finish it off.

He guessed that undead of Fenrir and Cerberus's caliber couldn't resurrect instantly like ordinary skeletons; otherwise, Asgard would be the only superpower in the universe, and Odin wouldn't have been able to successfully seal Hela.

Just as Su Mo was getting closer and closer to Fenrir, drawing his hand chop, and Pudding was extending his tentacles to finish him off, a sharp whooshing sound came from behind.

"Enough, you two little reptiles." A female voice rang out simultaneously, cold and arrogant.

Su Mo whirled around instantly, grabbing the black spike aimed at his back. Just as he was about to fling it back, the spike suddenly exploded. Fragments of varying sizes pierced his palm, and blood dripped from between his fingers.

Pudding immediately began working, slowly pushing out the fragments embedded in the flesh one by one, with small black particles mixed with blood rolling off the wounds.

Su Mo looked at the ground in the distance. Hela, the Goddess of Death, stood there, wearing a tattered green robe, her face grim. Her hair was sculpted into a black crown, and her face was tinged with dark green eyeshadow by the aura of death. Fenrir fell from the sky, crashing into the ground behind her, creating a large crater, and let out a low whimper.

"Hela, send me out, or else..." Su Mo took a deep breath and shouted.

"Heh, what else can I do?" Hela looked at him mockingly and shook her head. "You're too weak."

Su Mo opened his mouth, as if about to say something profound to persuade Hela to change her mind. Hela even tilted her head slightly, as if waiting for his performance. Then Su Mo spoke.

"Well then, bye-bye, goodbye."

Before he finished speaking, Su Mo turned and ran. His black figure left a trail of afterimages in the darkness of the Underworld. He was joking; he was no match for Hela anyway. A sneak attack might be worth trying, but a head-on confrontation was suicide.

"You give me a ludayo."

Hela stood there, silently watching this scene. It was as if a crow was flying overhead, cawing loudly.

Wait, that really is a crow.

A black raven appeared out of nowhere, flapping its wings and flying steadily in the air. Su Mo recognized it. The one on Odin's shoulder, known as the Eye of Odin.

The raven's beak opened slightly, and an aged yet steady voice resounded directly in Su Mo's mind. It was Odin's voice transmission: "I have fallen into Odin's slumber and am powerless to help. Hela's palace contains a spatial passage that she dug years ago; she cannot leave, but you can."

As soon as the telepathic transmission ended, Hela raised her hand and unleashed a black dagger that precisely pierced the raven's body. The raven didn't even utter a cry before turning into a cloud of black mist and dissipating.

Hela snorted coldly, flipped herself onto Fenrir who had just recovered, and the giant wolf pushed off the ground with all four hooves, chasing after the direction Su Mo had fled.
