Chapter 2: Demon Pursuers from Another World

Lu Mingfei stared at the sharp claws revealed under the other party's cloak. His legs went weak, but he inexplicably took half a step forward, standing right between Frilian and the demon.

Frillie held a slender magic wand and used magic to pull Lu Mingfei backward. "Unfortunately, I refuse."

The demon sneered, his figure suddenly blurring. Lu Mingfei only saw a black shadow flash by, and Frilian crashed into the wall like a kite with a broken string, causing the bookshelf to collapse with a crash.

She managed to sit up, but the beam of light shot from her wand was easily dodged by her opponent.

"Cough!" Blood splattered onto her silver hair as Frilian knelt on one knee.

"Stop!" Lu Mingfei grabbed a desk lamp and smashed it at the demon.

To no avail. The demon looked at him, narrowing his scarlet eyes, "A nuisance bug."

"Sizzle," Lu Mingfei looked down and saw three sharp claws piercing through his chest, blood dripping from the claw tips.

The world began to fade, and a buzzing sound filled his ears. His consciousness was fading; he heard something shatter inside him.

It was the sound of shackles being broken.

"Oh dear, brother, you've gotten yourself into this mess again~", a little boy in a suit appeared, his golden eyes dazzlingly bright. "You even picked up an elf this time? Your taste has really improved~"

"You still need your younger brother to cover for you, something for nothing 5% fusion."

A burst of intense energy erupted from his heart, flowing to his limbs, and the wound on his chest healed rapidly.

The blood droplet hung in mid-air, the demon's ferocious expression froze, and Frilian seemed to have been paused.

"Don't die."

"Word of Power: Time Zero".

Lu Mingfei stood up. In this almost still world, he could move freely! Without hesitation, he picked up a piece of broken wood from the ground and plunged it into the heart of a demon.

Time resumed its flow.

"AIEEEE!" the demon cried out in anguish, "How could a human possibly—"

The remaining two demons fought back, but in Lu Mingfei's eyes they were as slow as snails.

He activated Time Zero again and decisively snapped the neck of the second demon.

The last demon realized something was wrong, took a few steps back, and pulled a black crystal from his cloak: "Frilian, you actually recruited the dragons of this world as your helpers?"

The demon crushed the crystal, shouting, "Then let's all perish together!"

Dark energy surged forth, seemingly able to resist the influence of the Word of Power, greatly reducing the slowing effect.

"Lu Mingfei," Frillie planted her wand in the ground, "buy three seconds."

Lu Mingfei gritted his teeth and charged into the black mist to fight the demons hand-to-hand, each punch accompanied by the dull thud of bones breaking.

Dark energy corroded his skin, but his body healed even faster, with new scales appearing faintly on his skin.

Frillie chanted an ancient incantation, her wand radiating a dazzling golden light, and the magical energy in the air fluctuated violently.

"Holy Light Judgment."

The beam of light pierced through the ceiling and struck the demons directly. The demons screamed and struggled within the beam of light, their bodies gradually disintegrating into black particles.

Then it vanished without a trace.

The room returned to silence, leaving only heavy breathing and devastation.

Lu Mingfei slumped to the ground, the effect of Time Zero dissipated, and a strong sense of exhaustion swept over his entire body.

Frillie dragged her injured leg over, her fingers lightly touching the scales on his body: "Time magic, super-fast regeneration. Did your parents ever tell you you're a half-blood?"

“They only said there were frozen dumplings in the refrigerator,” Lu Mingfei said hoarsely.

“【The Magic of Clarity of Mind】,” Frilian said softly, tapping his brow with her wand.

A cool sensation ran through my mind, and my chaotic thoughts instantly became much clearer.

Frillie put away her wand. "Many of your memories have been hidden. Someone doesn't want you to know the truth."

Lu Mingfei always felt that his life was a clumsy joke, because all his memories were fake.

"Can you help me regain my memories?" he asked, looking up at Frilian.

Frillie hesitated for a moment: "My current magic power is insufficient to use that level of magic. Let me fix your house first."

It took her quite a while to completely restore Lu Mingfei's house, even repairing the broken door.

"Okay, goodnight, Frilian." Lu Mingfei felt like his whole body was falling apart; he needed rest, and so did Frilian.

Goodnight, Lu Mingfei.

----

Lu Mingfei was awakened by a burnt smell and opened his eyes groggily.

Who is making that clanging and banging noise coming from the kitchen?

"Frilian?" he called out tentatively.

The silver-haired elf peeked out from behind the kitchen door. "Cooking? What's up?"

Lu Mingfei really wanted to complain, why was Frilian so calm? He thought his house was going to be demolished.

"What are you making?" he asked, shuffling into the kitchen in his slippers, and saw Frillie using a spatula to work on the charred mess in the pan.

She was wearing Lu Mingfei's white T-shirt and jeans, the cuffs of which were rolled up several times to barely fit, making her look like a middle school student who had stolen an adult's clothes.

"Fry an egg," Frilian said without looking up, focusing on the egg in the pan.

Toast and milk were laid out on the table. Lu Mingfei felt a lump in his throat. When was the last time someone made breakfast for him?

"Thank you," he said softly, taking the plate from Frillie.

"What's this?" Frilian held up the instant noodle bag and shook it. The words "Braised Beef Noodles" on the packaging gleamed in her hand. "Instant Magic Potion?"

“This is called Otaku's Happy Noodles,” Lu Mingfei said, skillfully tearing open the packaging. “It can summon a demon to fill your stomach in three minutes.”

How do I summon it?

Unable to refuse her, Lu Mingfei made two bowls of instant noodles, one for each of them, even though eating instant noodles so early in the morning is a bit unhealthy.

Frillie picked up her fork, mimicking Lu Mingfei's movements as she twirled a noodle and put it in her mouth. "It tastes good."

The two ate their instant noodles quietly as the rain outside the window gradually subsided.

Lu Mingfei secretly sized up the elven girl opposite him. "Frilian, you say you're a magician. Is magic common in your world?"

Frillie put down her fork. "It's as common as 'electricity' in your world. However, not many people can become high-ranking mages."

She rested her chin on her hands and looked at Lu Mingfei: "Aren't you afraid of what happened last night?"

Lu Mingfei took a bite of his fried egg. "Anyway, my life is boring enough. A few more surprises won't hurt."

"Most people would break down or refuse to believe it if they encountered something like this."

"Maybe it's because I've always felt like an oddball since I was little," Lu Mingfei shrugged. "So, I really am a dragon?"

“Hybrids,” Frilian corrected, “very rare but real dragon blood. In my world, you are called ‘Dragonborn’.”

"And what about you? Why are the demons hunting you?"

"It's probably because I've killed too many demons."

After slurping up the last bite of noodles, Lu Mingfei said, "Then you must have the alias 'Demon Slayer Frilian'."

Chapter 3 The Invitation from Kassel College

His phone vibrated, displaying a message saying "Uncle is calling." Lu Mingfei hesitated whether to answer; it had been half a year since he last contacted his uncle.

This discussion should be about admission to Kassel College, which has extended an offer to him.

"I'll answer it," Lu Mingfei pressed the answer button. "Hello, Uncle?"

"Mingfei, we'll go to your place later and talk about university. Can you spare some time?"

"Yes, I can. It's raining, so please walk carefully, Uncle."

Frillie waited patiently for Lu Mingfei to finish his call. "Do you know what kind of problems mixed-race people are most prone to?"

"What's the problem?"

She looked directly into Lu Mingfei's eyes and said, "If the concentration of dragon blood is too high, it will devour your mind and turn you into a 'dead servant' who can't distinguish friend from foe."

Lu Mingfei swallowed hard: "What should I do?"

Frillie took out her wand. "Let's test your dragon blood concentration first."

When will the testing begin?

"You can go now, go to the living room."

In the living room, Frillie drew a circle with her wand. The furniture creaked and scurried to the corners, like mice seeing a cat.

A magic circle appeared on the floor, flashing a dangerous red light, with a skull floating around it.

"Are you sure this is a test array?" Lu Mingfei thought this thing looked incredibly unreliable.

“OK, stand up,” Frilian said. “Let’s test your dragon blood concentration.”

Lu Mingfei cautiously stepped into the magic circle, whose color gradually changed from red to gold.

“As expected,” Frilian murmured to herself, “the magic circle reacts to your dragon blood.”

As soon as he stepped on it, his veins felt like they were being filled with magma. Lu Mingfei watched as his fingers stretched and sharpened, and scales appeared on his skin.

“Frilian, something’s not right,” he said with difficulty.

The elven girl stepped into the magic circle, placed her hands on Lu Mingfei's chest, and chanted a spell.

A cool energy flowed into his body, suppressing the dragon blood within him. His claws returned to normal fingers, and his scales disappeared.

“I’m sorry, I underestimated the dragon blood within you.” Frilian hadn’t expected the dragon blood within Lu Mingfei to be so violent.

Lu Mingfei sat on the ground, panting, "Was that just now caused by an excessively high concentration of dragon blood, resulting in loss of control?"

“Yes,” Frilian said, sitting opposite him. “An excessively high concentration of dragon blood will completely alter your body.”
