“Because Angers holds the real knife, while you only have toys,” Hango interrupted him. “While you were playing Game of Thrones, he was slaying dragons.”

"Angers is one thing, but what is Lu Mingfei anyway!" The red-haired youth Maxim slammed his fist on the table, making the cups clink. "A mere brat dares to point a knife at us?"

Rita, the girl wearing emerald earrings, lightly touched her right hand. "He has zero time, cousin. One second is enough to kill any one of us here."

William, Henrault's great-grandson, pushed up his glasses. "None of that matters. The key is Angers' attitude."

He turned to Han Gao, who sat silently, and asked, "Great-grandfather, should we abandon our cooperation?"

Henkel slowly opened his eyes. "No, cooperating with Angers is necessary, but we need to do it in a different way. Hmm, let's try contacting the Gattuso family."

A brief silence fell over the room.

“Lu Mingfei,” Maxim licked his teeth, “how many seconds can his time zero last?”

Han Gao smiled with relief. Angers was right; he had neglected to discipline his descendants. "Want to know? Go try it yourself."

He pointed to his heart and said, “Angers shot me here back then, and now his student might just shoot you back.”

The young people fell silent.

Henkel shook his head and coughed violently. Rita quickly handed him a handkerchief, which was stained with dark red bloodstains.

"Great-grandfather!"

“It’s an old problem,” Henkel waved his hand, his gaze falling on the oil painting above the fireplace, a picture of himself as a young man, holding two pistols and standing in the wilderness. “Do you know why Angers is over a hundred years old but still looks like a young man?”

He rose shakily, walked to the oak desk, and opened the drawer. Two alchemical revolvers lay quietly inside.

“Texas Dawn,” William said in awe. “Back then, you relied on them and the Word of Power: Holy Judgment to dominate America.”

Han Gao's aged fingers traced the gun's shaft, the alchemical patterns gleaming slightly under his touch: "Hatred is the best preservative. Angers carries the souls of the entire Lionheart Society in his heart; those flames are enough to burn away his old age."

"Snap," the door opened.

The person wearing a KFC paper bag walked in, raised their hand in an apologetic gesture, and said, "Did I interrupt the family meeting? I knocked, but no one heard me."

Han Gaoyi, the young man, stepped back. "You're always so elusive. Would you like a drink?"

"Coke, please, with ice." Mr. KFC opened the freezer and expertly poured himself a drink. "Were you talking about Angers just now? The old man's been unusually energetic lately."

Han Gao chuckled softly, "Revenge is the best stimulant. For over a hundred years, the fire in his blood has never been extinguished. We've been too complacent."

"What do you think of Lu Mingfei?" Han Gao asked casually.

Mr. KFC shrugged. "An interesting sophomore. He's very capable, but he always keeps a low profile, like a sword sheathed."

He paused for a moment, then added, "Oh, right, he also has a crush on that silver-haired girl."

Han Gao raised an eyebrow slightly. "Frilian? That cold little girl from earlier? The way she looked at me made it seem like she was already considering what to engrave on my tombstone."

“You have to understand, Frillie’s a bit odd,” Mr. KFC said, shaking his Coke glass as the ice cubes clinked together.

"Seriously, I'm here to inform you of something. Kassel has a mission to undertake in China."

"Lu Mingfei is going too?"

“Of course, he brought his good friends with him,” Mr. KFC said, spreading his hands dramatically. “But don’t get any funny ideas, that kid can’t be stopped even by Angers when he gets angry.”

Henkel paused for a moment, then asked, "One last question: how many seconds can Lu Mingfei's zero time last?"

Mr. KFC thought for a moment, "Who knows? Maybe it'll be even longer than Angers."

He finished his Coke in one gulp. "See you next time, bye-bye."

Han Gao sat alone for a long time, then opened a drawer, took out one of the "Texas Dawn" pistols, and gently turned the magazine.

"Angers," the old man muttered to himself, pointing the revolver at his temple and pulling the trigger.

Click, out of bullets.

Han Gao smiled and put the gun back in its place: "Sure enough, I still can't admit I'm getting old."

The modified off-road vehicle sped along the road like a black beast. Lu Mingfei slumped in the back seat, his stomach rumbling incessantly.

"Principal, where are we going to eat?" he asked listlessly, tracing imaginary steaks and lobsters on the car window with his finger. "If I get any hungrier, I might have to use the Word of Power: Gluttony."

Upon hearing this, Chu Zihang, in the co-pilot's seat, turned his head and said, "There is no such word of power."

"Senior, don't spoil my fun!" Lu Mingfei wailed, pressing his face against the cold car window. "Now I want to eat every billboard I see on the roadside."

Xia Mi leaned out from the back row, her ponytail brushing against Lu Mingfei's face, "Principal~ tell us your story with Han Gao!"

She blinked her big eyes. "I heard you were sworn enemies when you were young, constantly at odds with each other?"

Angers, who was holding the steering wheel with one hand, almost swerved onto the sidewalk upon hearing this. "Darling, that was a long, long time ago."

"So it's true?" Xia Mi excitedly patted the seat. "And then what?"

“Then Hangol shot me in the chest with the Texas Dawn,” Angers said, a hint of nostalgia on his face.

Frillie sat quietly by the window and said, "You two didn't get along very well when you were young."

"That's right, even now, we're just friends on the surface."

Lu Mingfei's stomach promptly protested. "Principal, I might starve to death before I hear the whole story. Huh?"

His eyes widened. "Isn't this the way to Chicago's Chinatown?"

Angers smiled mysteriously, turned the steering wheel, and the SUV veered sharply into a small alley. "I made a reservation at a restaurant; the owner is an old friend of mine."

The car stopped in front of a dilapidated little shop with a sign that read "Old Wang's Barbecue," and the aroma of cooking oil seeped in through the cracks in the car window.

Xia Mi cheered and rushed out of the car, while Chu Zihang shook his head helplessly and followed. Lu Mingfei stumbled towards the source of the fragrance, but was gently grabbed by the back of his collar by Frilian.

"Don't do that, it's embarrassing."

Chapter 67 Barbecue

The signboard of "Old Wang's Barbecue" lit up in the twilight, wisps of smoke rose into the air, and neon lights flashed the four Chinese characters "Charcoal Grilled".

Oil-stained plastic tables and chairs were placed by the roadside, and lamb skewers sizzled on the grill, with grease dripping onto the charcoal fire and rising a cloud of white smoke with the aroma of cumin.

Lu Mingfei was a little puzzled; this place didn't seem to fit Angers' identity.

"Principal, are you sure this is the restaurant we booked?" Lu Mingfei asked, his voice trembling as he stared at the peeling paint on the walls and the suspicious oil stains on the plastic stools by the entrance.

Angers took off his sunglasses, revealing a sly smile: "I'm sure, most people can't appreciate the boss's cooking."

"Because the hygiene conditions are not up to standard?" Xia Mi muttered to herself.

“Because the boss has a terrible temper with strangers,” Angers said, pushing open the creaking iron gate. “He only entertains acquaintances.”

Old Wang was a lean, middle-aged man, shirtless with a yellowed towel draped around his neck, turning the lamb on the grill with his bare hands.

He glanced up at Angers and snorted, "Oh, isn't this Angers? Still alive?"

“I still have you old friends, how could I bear to leave first?” Angers said with a smile, pulling out a chair and sitting down. He then took a few bottles of Arctic Ocean soda from the freezer and tossed them to Lu Mingfei and the others.

"Order," Old Wang tossed over a greasy, laminated menu, on which various barbecue items were scrawled in marker, their prices repeatedly erased and rewritten.

Lu Mingfei, his eyes practically glowing with hunger, grabbed the menu: "Thirty lamb skewers, please! The kind with a good mix of lean and fatty meat!"

"Five skewers of lamb kidneys," Chu Zihang added calmly.

"I want roasted eggplant! Extra garlic!" Xia Mi raised her hand.

Frillie stared at the menu, frowning slightly: "Do you have vegetarian options?"

She was completely ruined by Finger and Lu Mingfei, who kept dragging her to eat roasted pork knuckles in the cafeteria every day.

Old Wang: "Vegetarian? They do have toasted bread slices."

Angers chuckled and patted the table: "Bring a few more plates of peanut and edamame platters, twenty skewers of beef tendon, twenty skewers of chicken cartilage, and eight pounds of crayfish, spicy flavor."

After writing down the order, Old Wang turned around and went to work in front of the grill, muttering to himself, "A bunch of starving ghosts reincarnated."

The chilled Arctic Ocean soda bubbled as Lu Mingfei took a big gulp and sighed contentedly, "Ha, I'm back to life."

Xia Mi poked at the edamame with her chopsticks and asked curiously, "Principal, did you used to come here often?"

Angers slowly peeled peanuts: "In the 1950s, I was chasing a Secret Service traitor carrying important documents down this street. I chased him for three days and then I ran into... uh, Little Wang?"

"And then what happened?"

“I fought with him and smashed up his shop in the process,” Angers said with a smile. “I thought he was in cahoots with the traitor.”

Lu Mingfei thought to himself, "Then I can't blame Old Wang for speaking rudely to you."

Chu Zihang silently took a sip of soda.

Old Wang came over with an iron plate and slammed it on the table: "Lamb skewers, eat them while they're hot, they'll get gamey when they're cold."

Lu Mingfei grabbed a skewer of mutton, opened his mouth and took a bite. The scalding hot juice made him gasp for breath, but he couldn't bear to spit it out. He could only chew with tears in his eyes: "Hot, hot, hot, but so delicious!"

Chu Zihang ate much better than him. He used chopsticks to pick the lamb kidneys off the skewers, then slowly dipped them in chili powder before putting them in his mouth.

Xia Mi glanced at the lamb kidneys with disdain: "Senior brother, why do you like to eat this?"

“My dad used to like eating this,” Chu Zihang replied calmly.

Frillie stared at the toasted bread slice in front of her, hesitated for a moment, and then took a small bite. "Sweet?"

"She brushed on honey," Old Wang snorted from a distance. "A young girl like her, eating so much vegetarian food, she's as thin as a bamboo pole."

Angers smiled and handed her a skewer of chicken cartilage: "Try this, it's not greasy."

Frillie hesitated for a moment, then took a bite. The crispy texture made her nod slightly: "It's quite delicious."

Old Wang carried a large plate of spicy crayfish to the table, and Lu Mingfei's eyes widened in surprise.

"Principal! I could eat ten pounds of this!"

Angers put on plastic gloves and slowly peeled the shrimp: "Let's finish what's in front of us first."

Xia Mi peeled a shrimp, eagerly popped it into her mouth, only to be so overwhelmed by the spiciness that she stuck out her tongue: "So spicy! So fragrant!"

Chu Zihang finished one without changing his expression and commented: "The spiciness is moderate, but there are a lot of spices."

Frillie stared at the bright red crayfish, hesitated for five seconds, and then reached out and took one.

then.

"It's so spicy," Frillie said expressionlessly, but her hands didn't stop as she continued peeling the second one.

"Hey," Lu Mingfei handed Frillie a bottle of Arctic Ocean soda to cool her down.
