Cyberpunk: I didn't cheat.
Chapter 17 Listen to Mom
"Damn it, you guys cheated, didn't you?!"
Fernando, seeing victory slip away, immediately got out of the car in a fit of rage and started cursing.
Vito gestured for Jack to raise his hand, and Fernando seemed to have his throat grabbed, his voice abruptly cut off.
"Kid, you know the rules. Playing with a puppet isn't cheating, getting off the bus and pointing a gun at your head is cheating. Either take the three hundred bucks and get out of here, or I'll have this guy shoot two pellets into your head. Choose!"
Fernando swallowed hard, but ultimately decided that his life was more important.
"I want three hundred yuan."
Vito transferred three hundred to him, and Fernando and his racing friends immediately turned to leave, but Vito called them back.
"What, what are you doing? We've already given you the car."
Fernando thought Vito had changed his mind.
Say thank you.
Vito grinned, showing his teeth.
"Uh, thank you."
"Alright, let's go, goodbye."
Fernando and his companions felt they had encountered a cyber madman today and quickly left.
"Holy crap, Mano, I never expected my first order to be like this. But this thing is really awesome, it feels amazing to hold in my hands. It's a pity I can't try it today."
Jack chuckled, touching his hand.
"What name do you think I should give him?"
Vito opened the Falcon's car door and said casually.
"How about we call it Reason? Give Reason to the one who can't speak properly, so he can speak properly."
Jack put the gun away.
"Good idea, Mano. With reason back, even the most insane idiot will speak properly. Shall we drive to see the priest?"
Vito got into the driver's seat of the Falcon.
"I'll fly the falcon. Send me your location, and we'll meet at the priest's place. Call me in case of emergency."
"Okay, Wild Wolf tonight, it's on me."
The two sped back to Heywood, where Vito met Father Sebastian Ibarra, a well-known middleman in Heywood.
The old man looked like a reasonable pastor, but in reality, he came from a gang and was involved in many shady businesses.
The priest was surprised to learn that the two had quickly secured the "first blood" deal.
"Young man, I thought you would kill a whole river of blood again and then drive back in a Hayabusa covered in broken bones and blood, with half a door missing."
The priest, looking at the perfectly intact car, made a little joke at the two of them.
"I'm a pacifist, sir, and besides, I've found that bullets and car washes aren't cheap since I came to Night City."
Vito shrugged, looking helpless.
"Haha, this is quite different from what I've heard. Tell this old man what interesting things happened on this job, son."
The priest had his men bring three plastic stools, and the three of them sat down in the garage.
"Get jobs, drive, work, come back, wait for the transfer, that's it, I have nothing else to say."
Vito's words were concise and to the point; the priest smiled and looked at Jack.
"Looks like your friend is a man of action. And you, Jack, do you have anything to share with the old priest?"
Jack scratched his head and said.
"The process went fairly smoothly. I originally wanted to draw my gun and make those petty thieves submit, but they said they won the car fair and square. That was different from what the commissioner said. To be honest, I was a little hesitant. It was indeed LeBron's underhanded dealings, but Vito was decisive. He used that old car to win the car back and made them admit defeat."
The priest stood up and patted Jack on the shoulder.
"Lebon is a bit of a liar, but you did a great job. He'll pay you an extra thousand euros for the lie. Well done, kid. I can see you're good at this."
Then the priest turned to Vito and extended his right hand.
"Welcome to Night City, kid. Jack is very good at making friends. I hope we can work together more in the future. Would you like to give me your contact information? That way, I can contact you more easily."
Vito stood up, took the priest's hand, and gave him his contact information.
"Of course, Father, it's a pleasure doing business with you."
Father Sebastian readily transferred the money to Vito. Jack, pleased with how smoothly his first job after leaving the gang had gone, invited the Valentino gang members present to Wild Wolf for drinks, offering a 20% discount to everyone.
After saying that, Jack put his arm around Vito and walked onto the street. He saw that Vito had ordered another Delaman and complained.
"Hey Vito, you can't spend money like this. Do we really need to use Delaman for a taxi?"
Vito pulled Jack into the car and then said to him.
"One day we'll be driving around Night City in a fully armored Sword in the Stone, but until then, Delaman is our only guarantee of safe movement. I don't want to get shot by a stray bullet that comes out of nowhere on the street."
Jack thought about it and realized it made sense, but he still couldn't help but mutter to himself.
"The Kederaman is really expensive, I need to buy a car quickly."
"Mr. Jack, choose Delaman, and leave your troubles at the door."
……
Meanwhile, this morning Mann called David to help the gang steal data from a company dog's car. However, something went wrong. The company dog realized that his car key chip had been stolen and immediately went out to look for the car.
David and Lucy were stealing data in the car when they were caught red-handed by the company dog. Left with no other option, David had to drive the car away.
The company dog reacted quickly, immediately calling the Tiger Claw Gang thugs to chase the car. Seeing that he couldn't shake them off, David activated Sinwiss and drove against traffic on the elevated highway, and gave the relentless thugs a quick burst. The ugly Tiger Claw Gang thugs crashed into the car and turned into dazzling fireworks.
"Phew, my driving skills are pretty good, right?"
David, overwhelmed by S.A.S ...
Lucy had just finished downloading the data for the luxury car and replied casually.
"It's because this car's self-driving system is too good."
But when she looked up and saw the weak David, she added another sentence.
"Good reaction time."
Beep~ Beep~ Beep~
The Night City ringtone sounded; it was Mann calling.
"Hey, did you get the data?"
David wiped the blood from his nose and replied.
"We got it from Lucy, but what about the car?"
Mann sent a location to David.
"First, bring Lucy over, then drive the car here. Just say Mann sent you, and then you don't need to worry about anything else. Just come straight to the bar."
"Uh, okay."
After hanging up Mann's call, another General Electric ringtone sounded.
David checked the caller ID; it was his mother, Gloria.
David hesitated for a few seconds before answering the phone.
"Mom, I'm a little busy right now. Can I call you back later?"
Gloria on the other end of the phone was silent for two seconds, then spoke softly.
"Be careful, David, and remember to call back."
After David hung up the phone again, an eerie silence fell over the car until Lucy got out at the Cherry Blossom Market.
"Don't forget to call your mother back."
After saying that, Lucy closed the car door.
"Uh, okay, thanks..."
